Meet the Team - Human Resources Director

My name is Joy Wingader, and I’m the Director of Human Resources for Hickory Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. I began my journey in long-term health care with my very first job! I was a server at a local retirement home. I came to Hickory Ridge in August of 2019 and fell in love with both the residents and my staff. I enjoy advocating for my staff and making sure that they know how appreciated they are. Being an “essential worker” during a global pandemic sure was an experience! Our team grew closer during this time as we navigated the continual changes to policy and keeping both residents and staff safe. While I don’t interact with the residents in my role as much as others, I enjoy the smiles on their faces, seeing them enjoy the many fun things our activities department puts together, and hearing about their life experiences. And I absolutely love my staff! They challenge me, they grow me, and I truly consider Hickory Ridge my family.

In my free time, I used to read voraciously. With COVID, I find myself enjoying some mind-numbing TV just to turn off my brain for a bit. I have three children that I adore and enjoy watching grow and mature. My oldest began college last fall and moved out in January. I have a soon to be senior in high school that is just moving and grooving, although Zoom classes turned out not to be his thing. The youngest is my only girl, and as my mom often wished for me during my teen years, is everything I deserve and more! Round us out with a golden retriever and a cat from the animal shelter and our family is complete.
